00:00:10:18 - 00:00:19:15
Gabe
What's up, fellow Questers? Welcome back to another episode of I Don't Believe in Side Quests where we love to remind you that every side quest is somebody else's main quest. I'm Gabe.

00:00:20:14 - 00:00:21:05
Lauren
I'm Lauren.

00:00:21:18 - 00:00:42:27
Gabe
And let's do some catch up on what's been happening this week for us. Sorry, I'm super slumming it today. I'm so tired, so exhausted. And it's it's been really gross at the school. Like there's some air flow, but there's not a lot. And because.

00:00:43:15 - 00:00:44:21
Gabe
You know, it's a.

00:00:45:29 - 00:00:46:27
Gabe
A private.

00:00:46:27 - 00:00:49:19
Gabe
School or, you know, like a Catholic school.

00:00:50:08 - 00:00:58:27
Gabe
We have to dress more reserved. So you have way more clothing than you would want to. And I've been sweating.

00:01:00:12 - 00:01:01:11
Lauren
How hot is it?

00:01:02:08 - 00:01:04:08
Gabe
Um, well.

00:01:04:15 - 00:01:26:03
Gabe
I get warm really easily. Like when I'm working, I get hot pretty fast. But sure, it's been in the seventies, so then it gets pretty warm in there and there's not a whole lot of airflow because it's an older building too. So even when they have little AC on, it's like they don't have anything on.

00:01:27:12 - 00:01:34:10
Gabe
Yeah. And it's just like, can we get get a little bit more please? I'm dying.

00:01:35:19 - 00:01:46:19
Lauren
We're supposed to have a heatwave last week, and we had like two days where it's just like, Oh, no, is this nice weather? You know, it's like seventies ish.

00:01:46:24 - 00:01:47:04
Gabe
Mhm.

00:01:47:10 - 00:02:20:02
Lauren
And then it was at like 4 a.m. after two days of nice weather when we were supposed to have more days of nice weather. All of a sudden there's this huge rolling thunder and we don't get rolling thunder in Seattle. So this is I think we got Rolling Thunder for the first time maybe two years ago. And it was the weirdest thing, just because people who have grown up in Seattle and haven't been in the Midwest or anything like that, where there is a lot more rolling.

00:02:20:17 - 00:02:24:04
Gabe
What do you mean by rolling thunder?

00:02:24:09 - 00:02:31:21
Lauren
So for most of the time that I lived in Seattle, thunder would be more like. Like a boom.

00:02:32:01 - 00:02:32:12
Gabe
Mhm.

00:02:32:18 - 00:02:36:17
Lauren
Like there'd be a loud and then it would kind of peter off really quickly.

00:02:37:07 - 00:02:37:24
Gabe
Oh okay.

00:02:37:24 - 00:02:40:12
Lauren
There's Rolling Thunder where it's, you know, like.

00:02:40:18 - 00:02:41:12
Gabe
Intense.

00:02:41:12 - 00:02:51:10
Lauren
Ten, 15 seconds long, like three, like it just keeps rolling. Okay. But we've never had that. And I don't I don't know.

00:02:51:13 - 00:02:53:04
Gabe
I didn't know. That's what it's called. I don't.

00:02:54:01 - 00:03:03:06
Lauren
Yeah. Rolling Thunder. And it's just, like, continuing to go on. And so usually our thunder is just like, boom. All right.

00:03:03:06 - 00:03:03:21
Gabe
Let's move on.

00:03:04:09 - 00:03:29:25
Lauren
But, yeah, like, no, we had it. Yeah, it was so loud. And it went on for so long. Like, we had time to, like, wake up. My husband, like, ran out onto the deck to just see what was going on because it was still going like we thought it was, you know, a jet passing over close to us or something just because it was so long.

00:03:29:25 - 00:03:53:06
Lauren
And then he got back into bed and we saw like a flash of light. And then it happened again. We were like, okay. We had kind of assumed it was thunder. Yeah. Even though it didn't really sound like typical thunder for us. And then the heavens opened and it just poured for, like, 30 minutes. And then it was just back to normal great Seattle weather.

00:03:53:06 - 00:04:03:09
Lauren
So it just like 45 minutes of like, freak storm. And then it was just like your heat wave is now gone. We have all moved on emotionally, so.

00:04:03:25 - 00:04:09:15
Gabe
That's good though. Lots of thunder that cause nitrogen in the air and it's really good for your plants and trees and stuff.

00:04:09:15 - 00:04:09:27
Gabe
So.

00:04:11:07 - 00:04:17:07
Gabe
Yeah, we are having, we having ice storms. So like we were having some rain.

00:04:17:21 - 00:04:18:00
Gabe
And.

00:04:18:00 - 00:04:21:05
Gabe
Thunder lightning, but we had quite a bit of thunder and rain.

00:04:21:10 - 00:04:23:03
Gabe
This past weekend which was nice.

00:04:23:28 - 00:04:25:15
Gabe
Good for the emerging plants.

00:04:26:19 - 00:04:27:02
Gabe
Mhm.

00:04:27:06 - 00:04:31:25
Lauren
Yeah. It's been really great recently but it hasn't been super rainy.

00:04:31:28 - 00:04:32:11
Gabe
Yeah.

00:04:32:15 - 00:05:06:22
Lauren
So yeah. No getting that really nice water was good. But then it is supposed to get really hot. My husband is going down to Portland for this upcoming weekend and there is a Fast and Furious marathon going on down there to kind of prepare area everyone because the 10th Fast and Furious movie is coming out and so starting on Sunday, there's this theater in Portland that is doing like three movies a day.

00:05:07:12 - 00:05:09:19
Gabe
I would so go to that on Sunday.

00:05:09:19 - 00:05:24:16
Lauren
They're doing, I think, the first three and then they're starting at 530 the next three nights. They're doing another few anyway just to like sit and watch all of them, obviously in order. And then the next day it will come out.

00:05:25:07 - 00:05:26:11
Gabe
I'd say I do that.

00:05:26:14 - 00:05:28:10
Gabe
I loved the Fast and Furious movies.

00:05:28:24 - 00:05:29:21
Lauren
Have you seen all of them?

00:05:29:28 - 00:05:41:04
Gabe
Yeah, not all of them. Have we really gone to the theaters for. But like The Psycho, they're out on the TV. We record them and stuff.

00:05:41:04 - 00:05:41:29
Gabe
And watch them.

00:05:42:10 - 00:05:49:25
Gabe
I think. I think three of them are maybe four. I've seen in theaters.

00:05:51:14 - 00:05:54:27
Gabe
The want of the flying cars. I think it was.

00:05:56:17 - 00:06:07:03
Gabe
It was the one where the guy passed away. So his they did CGI and his brother for part of the movie. I can't come with the actors off the top of my head.

00:06:08:11 - 00:06:10:23
Lauren
Paul Walker, it's the actor you're thinking of.

00:06:10:28 - 00:06:14:15
Gabe
Yeah, I yes. Okay, I.

00:06:14:24 - 00:06:24:13
Gabe
I could I had the character's name in my head and I was like, now, now stars with a p so sad. So sad, so tragic.

00:06:25:21 - 00:06:29:06
Gabe
Mhm. He's one of my favorite characters. Well I think he was.

00:06:29:20 - 00:06:31:17
Gabe
Beloved by many who liked Fast and.

00:06:31:17 - 00:06:33:14
Gabe
Furious.

00:06:33:14 - 00:06:40:01
Gabe
Yeah, but I saw that one in theaters. Yeah, that's. I think that's.

00:06:40:01 - 00:06:41:08
Gabe
One of the fine cars.

00:06:42:01 - 00:06:52:18
Gabe
And that spoiler alert, the one where Adam finds out he has a child or I think he already knew. He knew he had a child. But you meet the child.

00:06:52:19 - 00:06:55:08
Gabe
I don't know. That's the whole thing. Hmm.

00:06:56:02 - 00:06:59:10
Gabe
And then the Tokyo Drift. I think I.

00:06:59:10 - 00:07:00:19
Lauren
Saw Tokyo drift.

00:07:02:10 - 00:07:04:03
Gabe
And then.

00:07:06:06 - 00:07:11:16
Gabe
The like, bank one where they literally steal the whole big fulfillment track.

00:07:11:16 - 00:07:11:25
Gabe
You know.

00:07:13:01 - 00:07:15:24
Gabe
It's like flying around behind them.

00:07:15:24 - 00:07:17:08
Gabe
I can't remember which one that is.

00:07:18:13 - 00:07:24:10
Lauren
Quick question. Is this in the upcoming movie that they're going to space.

00:07:24:10 - 00:07:25:02
Gabe
Are they actually.

00:07:25:03 - 00:07:26:17
Lauren
Have they already gone to space?

00:07:26:28 - 00:07:28:15
Gabe
I don't think they've gone to space.

00:07:28:21 - 00:07:32:19
Gabe
But I didn't know they are going to space. I know that the newest one.

00:07:32:22 - 00:07:33:18
Lauren
That was a joke.

00:07:33:27 - 00:07:47:21
Gabe
Is, um, I think that's a joke. It's, it's not like a sequel, but like the bad guy in that one is from the one with the bank fall flying all around behind the cars. I just can't remember.

00:07:47:21 - 00:07:48:16
Gabe
Which one that is.

00:07:48:24 - 00:08:10:25
Gabe
But he's supposedly I don't really remember him being in that movie, but he's supposedly from that movie and he's like all pissed off and he's finally come to seek his vengeance. If I remember right, there's no way they got to space. Why would they go to space? I mean, the joke is probably, you know, every fast and furious, right.

00:08:10:25 - 00:08:33:06
Gabe
You have to outdo the other one. So that was the whole point of the flying cars is in the beginning I think it's ludicrous characters like what's next flying cars? And then lo and behold, in the last bit of the movie that this flying cars. So you always have to you always have to up it, you know. So I guess.

00:08:34:01 - 00:08:38:26
Gabe
But no, I would be very shocked if they went to space. There would be no reason.

00:08:38:26 - 00:08:39:23
Gabe
That I could think of.

00:08:41:07 - 00:08:49:00
Gabe
Ways. Okay. So you're saying your husband is going to go watch those, but he's going to Oregon to go to Portland to go watch.

00:08:49:00 - 00:08:58:06
Lauren
He's not doing the whole series. He's doing Sunday and Monday because his friend, who is going to who he's going to go see them with couldn't do Tuesday and Wednesday.

00:08:58:15 - 00:08:59:00
Gabe
Gotcha.

00:08:59:00 - 00:09:08:14
Lauren
So I'll go down and see the first like five Mm. Cell of the movies and then head on home.

00:09:08:14 - 00:09:13:21
Gabe
Are they going to go to the premiere of the new one.

00:09:13:21 - 00:09:14:05
Gabe
That's fair.

00:09:14:05 - 00:09:24:06
Lauren
That's where now he maybe maybe when he comes back up, maybe he and I will go to it. Can I come with. He's on the Fast and Furious kick.

00:09:25:04 - 00:09:42:22
Gabe
Sometimes you just got to be you know, this is really awful. But there's so there's the Tokyo Drift song and I don't know if I feel like it was made specifically for the Fast and Furious, but I don't know. I could I could be wrong. But they play it in Tokyo, drift at it and it's the whole thing.

00:09:43:15 - 00:09:59:28
Gabe
But when I was younger, so they say drift, drift, drift. But they have a heavier accent when they're saying it. And when I was younger, I thought they were saying, Dick, Dick, Dick. And I was like like.

00:10:01:12 - 00:10:01:26
Gabe
A.

00:10:03:02 - 00:10:05:14
Gabe
Lot. Where's that come from?

00:10:06:19 - 00:10:07:22
Gabe
Yeah.

00:10:07:22 - 00:10:12:27
Gabe
So sometimes when I hear the song, I sing it that way. My friends are like, What are you doing? I'm like.

00:10:13:14 - 00:10:16:10
Lauren
Just singing it the correct way. Thank you. It just.

00:10:16:10 - 00:10:17:06
Gabe
Sticks with.

00:10:17:06 - 00:10:20:13
Gabe
You.

00:10:20:13 - 00:10:53:00
Lauren
There's not a whole bunch going on in video game news right now other than conversations about how A.I. is going to be changing the video game industry. And that's just a conversation for another day that we can really get into. But I did want to highlight that. I think today the World Video Game Hall of Fame announced the 2023 inductees, and that's computer space, the last of US We sports, which I think is fascinating.

00:10:53:14 - 00:10:56:12
Lauren
It's like I thought it was more of a genre, but I guess.

00:10:57:04 - 00:10:58:11
Gabe
Nobody sports is like just.

00:10:58:12 - 00:11:08:11
Lauren
A game. Yeah. And then Barbie fashion designer and this Barbie fashion designer was a 1996 PC game.

00:11:08:25 - 00:11:09:06
Gabe
Yeah.

00:11:09:08 - 00:11:42:02
Lauren
And the reason that they inducted into the Hall of Fame is because the game came out at a time when companies were not sure that games marketed towards girls could even succeed. And the game allowed players to design their own clothes for the dolls and put their designs out on special fabric. So it was absolutely just like girly, girly, girly, but it was also, you know, epic games specifically designed to appeal to little girls and specifically targeted towards that audience.

00:11:43:28 - 00:12:05:12
Lauren
Nancy Drew didn't come out or Nancy Drew came out in 1999, I think was the first one. I think so, yeah. I think Bart I mean, Barbie is always paving the way for girl games or activities or anything like that. So I wasn't surprised.

00:12:05:21 - 00:12:15:06
Gabe
If it inspire. There's a couple of Mary-Kate and Ashley games that they made with that was big on their side kind of inspired that. And then there is another.

00:12:16:15 - 00:12:17:10
Gabe
Game.

00:12:17:20 - 00:12:29:00
Gabe
That it was like, I feel like it was like a TV game, if that makes sense, you know? I mean, like, it wasn't necessarily I belong to a specific console like that. It's like.

00:12:29:06 - 00:12:30:03
Lauren
A game.

00:12:31:19 - 00:12:33:07
Gabe
Oh, no.

00:12:33:08 - 00:12:57:18
Gabe
It was it was more of like it's like we used to have a Pacman, right? And you you plugged the Pacman in to the TV and that was like how you played it. It was like its own thing. It didn't go on a console or on what I mean. So I think it was like that and it was kind of similar in that, you know, you could design your own clothes and stuff.

00:12:57:28 - 00:13:24:27
Gabe
But then you I don't remember if you're like on like a college campus or something, but like you could do all this like weird stuff. And it was, it was, I think it was early 2000. I, I can very vaguely like picture it in my head on the TV at my friend's house and it, I don't know, it just makes me think about that.

00:13:24:27 - 00:13:29:03
Gabe
But I have no idea if you're going to be able to Google search it because I don't think I gave.

00:13:29:03 - 00:13:40:16
Gabe
You enough information. Okay. Hold on. Okay.

00:13:40:28 - 00:13:46:24
Lauren
There's a girls fashion slash lifestyle game that was like a console with only one game that hooked up directly to the TV.

00:13:47:20 - 00:13:51:03
Gabe
What was it called?

00:13:51:03 - 00:14:19:13
Lauren
Uh, Designer's World by Hasbro or Dream Life as Designers? World word, dream life. Yeah. Um, somebody on Reddit was looking for in describing basically the same thing.

00:14:19:13 - 00:14:37:24
Gabe
Okay. I definitely played designers world with their friend. I had a friend who had this I it's not the one I was picturing in my head. But yes, I do remember this. When did this game come out? I think my cousin I think I played this game with my cousin. Okay. And the other one was Dream.

00:14:37:24 - 00:14:38:08
Gabe
Life.

00:14:42:00 - 00:14:48:27
Lauren
Designers World 2006. Okay, play TV game.

00:14:50:10 - 00:14:51:29
Gabe
Dream my super smart.

00:14:51:29 - 00:14:54:17
Gabe
TV plug and game. Gosh, I can get on ends.

00:14:55:06 - 00:14:57:14
Gabe
It's there video. I just thought of it.

00:14:57:14 - 00:15:00:03
Lauren
All of these are on Amazon.

00:15:00:03 - 00:15:04:24
Gabe
Uh, plug him. Oh, here we go. Plug and play dream life. I mean, just like, check it out. Give me.

00:15:04:24 - 00:15:05:11
Gabe
A second.

00:15:06:17 - 00:15:09:20
Gabe
One. I have a 5/2 and.

00:15:09:20 - 00:15:12:00
Gabe
Okay, okay, skip. Goodbye.

00:15:14:00 - 00:15:19:03
Gabe
Okay. This guy's about to play this game. I love this for him. Wait, no.

00:15:19:07 - 00:15:36:09
Gabe
Yeah, it's. Is it? I think the rules. Wait, one out.

00:15:36:09 - 00:15:40:24
Gabe
Of your hat. I agree. It's great descriptions, but I need to see. Is the.

00:15:40:24 - 00:15:42:14
Gabe
Airplane.

00:15:42:14 - 00:16:01:15
Lauren
Yeah, honest. It's B I typed in early 2000 fashion video games and literally. So there's an Amazon like designer's world TV plug and game ad. And then right under it was the Reddit post of the person looking for exactly this.

00:16:01:15 - 00:16:01:28
Gabe
I got it.

00:16:02:27 - 00:16:03:20
Lauren
Worked it out.

00:16:04:02 - 00:16:09:05
Gabe
And after this, if I had doubts to come back to it.

00:16:09:05 - 00:16:09:13
Gabe
Yeah.

00:16:10:20 - 00:16:18:20
Gabe
Okay. It was a dream life. Hasbro. And then. And then what was the other one? I can't even remember.

00:16:19:02 - 00:16:20:00
Lauren
Designer's World.

00:16:21:18 - 00:16:26:17
Gabe
That's right. Yeah.

00:16:27:09 - 00:16:36:06
Gabe
Oh, my gosh. I wonder if. I wonder if I could plug them into my computer and then stream them with like.

00:16:36:26 - 00:16:38:05
Gabe
Oh, my God.

00:16:39:11 - 00:16:42:00
Gabe
I would die. It's either relive that.

00:16:42:00 - 00:16:42:15
Gabe
Moment.

00:16:42:23 - 00:16:44:11
Lauren
That's going to be our stream.

00:16:44:23 - 00:16:46:11
Gabe
That would be amazing.

00:16:47:11 - 00:16:48:06
Lauren
I would love that.

00:16:49:21 - 00:16:54:00
Gabe
Mummy. Okay, wait, let me look at it on Amazon again. Okay. The first. Okay, the dream life.

00:16:55:06 - 00:16:58:08
Lauren
We plug into the AV ports on your TV, so.

00:16:58:09 - 00:16:59:03
Gabe
Oh, I see.

00:16:59:03 - 00:17:05:14
Gabe
What they plug into. Okay. I don't know how I don't know. I put that into my computer.

00:17:05:14 - 00:17:14:03
Gabe
But wait, is this like an updated version now? It still has a dude. What? TVs still have that kind of plugs? Not really any of.

00:17:14:03 - 00:17:18:03
Gabe
Mine, to be honest with you.

00:17:18:03 - 00:17:19:17
Gabe
I wonder if there's, like, an adapter.

00:17:19:17 - 00:17:23:09
Lauren
Should.

00:17:23:09 - 00:17:34:03
Gabe
Okay, that's something I have to come back to because I would be so funny. That would be so funny. I, I would cry. I love that you came out of that so fast.

00:17:34:03 - 00:17:38:18
Gabe
I think I moved.

00:17:38:18 - 00:17:46:27
Gabe
Last to the past. Okay, well, looking at them telling me they were inspired by a Barbie fashion designer.

00:17:46:27 - 00:18:01:11
Lauren
Oh, totally. Well, and then you get into, like, the flash games that were going on in the middle. Thousands like the my seen girls or any of those like dress up virtual doll games.

00:18:01:19 - 00:18:22:29
Gabe
They made things for the wings. I don't know if you ever watched the wings. Did you underrated show. It's an Italian show that they I don't remember what channel they used to play it on Italian. Yes. Yes. So Netflix made them live. Yeah. It's way. Okay. You have to I mean to see what you have to go through it.

00:18:23:07 - 00:18:27:26
Gabe
Okay. The fashion of this we can make a whole episode on those. I frickin love it.

00:18:28:20 - 00:18:29:28
Gabe
I love the wig so much.

00:18:30:10 - 00:18:48:01
Gabe
I'm not a big fan of the of the live action that Netflix made, but it's fine. Okay. If I search Wings Club Season one Visage You know what? I should show you the theme song. Actually, that's what I should show you because it's so epic, like, okay, Wings.

00:18:48:01 - 00:18:49:00
Gabe
Club Season one.

00:18:50:25 - 00:19:09:19
Lauren
Scene I follow like fashion girlies on YouTube. And there have been several videos that I have watched of people being like, Here's how I would have styled the girls for the live action Winx Club crash. Here's how. Yes.

00:19:09:19 - 00:19:11:01
Gabe
So okay.

00:19:11:01 - 00:19:36:09
Lauren
Really all of those I love to consume YouTube or podcasts or whatever have people talking about things that I have never seen. Yes. Like my favorite podcast talks about Vanderpump Rules and just like Bravo shows in general, like go see the Housewives. I've never seen any of the housewives and I'm like, Yes, I love this podcast. This is everything for me.

00:19:36:09 - 00:19:54:03
Lauren
I don't need to have watched it. I can just listen to them talk about it, like do voices. They know all of the history because I was just watching an episode. Yeah, I'd be going in blind and they say, Who? And then she did this, which is talking about like what happened three seasons ago when this was such happen.

00:19:54:03 - 00:20:04:06
Lauren
And then her son who did this and like they have all of the backstory and all right. Like the sources. Yeah. And it just like I love it. I love it so much.

00:20:05:26 - 00:20:26:21
Gabe
I grew. I was too old for the the Bratz era. But I love I want to add one day like look, if they ever made Bratz like a game, I feel like they had to have made a game about the Brad Stiles. I'd be so curious because I was always so fascinated by the whole like, Oh no, I thinking about Monster High.

00:20:26:21 - 00:20:36:03
Gabe
So there's Bratz. And then there was Monster High, I think, which was the kind of reminded me of Brad Stiles, but it was like the supernatural stuff and I was always like.

00:20:36:15 - 00:20:41:00
Lauren
There are, in case you're wondering, a ton of Bratz games.

00:20:42:19 - 00:20:43:24
Gabe
Here we go. This is a.

00:20:57:08 - 00:21:00:26
Gabe
Go go booth. We have.

00:21:00:28 - 00:21:02:12
Gabe
A Applebee's.

00:21:02:29 - 00:21:13:21
Gabe
Coffee conference. I just go, wow. Yeah.

00:21:16:04 - 00:21:33:28
Gabe
So, yeah, that was Sarah who got that? Well, it.

00:21:33:28 - 00:21:39:26
Gabe
Makes me so happy.

00:21:39:26 - 00:21:51:18
Lauren
We Catholics and love the. We are the wings. We are the wings. Come join the club. We are the wings. I think it's a good course. I like it. No, that's.

00:21:52:06 - 00:21:59:00
Gabe
Exactly I want the boys. You have to see what the boys were.

00:21:59:00 - 00:22:01:01
Gabe
I saw. Maybe I should have typed in the boys.

00:22:01:13 - 00:22:09:02
Gabe
But like, they have, like, the flare pants and like, tell me that's not just modern fashion.

00:22:09:02 - 00:22:10:07
Gabe
Oh, wow. Okay.

00:22:11:02 - 00:22:27:15
Gabe
Kind of sky. Sky will be a good example because. So you had the boy sector and and like, look, they have good go go boots and caves that was there. Like that was their school uniform.

00:22:27:15 - 00:22:30:00
Lauren
The top the top left.

00:22:30:09 - 00:22:32:26
Gabe
Yeah, yeah. Just walking.

00:22:32:26 - 00:22:41:20
Lauren
Yeah, yeah. Shoulders. Okay, it's this nana shaped like a triangle. Things like Fred Jones and Scooby Doo, but like.

00:22:42:02 - 00:22:42:08
Gabe
More.

00:22:42:09 - 00:22:42:23
Lauren
Ribs.

00:22:43:17 - 00:22:45:08
Gabe
Oh, yeah, I suppose. Yeah.

00:22:46:07 - 00:23:03:27
Lauren
Mhm. But is still blind shaped like a triangle, also dressed in blue, which is fun for him. Who did you connect with in the Wings Club? Did you cast yourself as I a wolf girl in there, but like.

00:23:04:14 - 00:23:15:27
Gabe
Honestly, probably, probably blue. I liked all I loved all the characters equally, but probably Bloom. I felt like, which is so.

00:23:15:27 - 00:23:17:00
Lauren
Which one is Bloom?

00:23:18:02 - 00:23:44:19
Gabe
Oh, this one. Her. They were boyfriend girlfriend. That she always in bloom. She is so I feel so fringy saying that. And it's not because she's the reed. I just really I don't know what is. I find her. She's fire. She has the dragon flame. So her powers like really rare and it has a whole list.

00:23:44:19 - 00:23:45:09
Lauren
Okay. Yeah.

00:23:45:25 - 00:24:10:02
Gabe
This was one of my gripes with the live action. Is it, like, completely ignores all the lore of the cartoon and, like, what her powers and where it came from in the whole history of it? And I was like, okay. So yeah, I'm pretty sure it is an Italian show. I'm pretty sure it started in Italy, if I remember.

00:24:10:02 - 00:24:13:24
Gabe
Let me tell you.

00:24:13:24 - 00:24:30:25
Lauren
Well, it's just like I never or I didn't realize that Avatar The Last Airbender was just like a Nickelodeon show because I didn't watch Nickelodeon as a kid. So it was a very long time before I learned that it was a Nickelodeon show. I was like, Oh, okay.

00:24:31:04 - 00:24:32:05
Gabe
That's totally fair.

00:24:32:05 - 00:24:33:24
Lauren
Yeah, I can show. Okay.

00:24:34:07 - 00:24:52:05
Gabe
It was created and produced in Italy in 2004, and I was like, This is why they were so fashionable. The Italians understand what none of us do. And oh, it became one of the most successful animated series in Europe and one of the first Italian series to be.

00:24:52:05 - 00:24:59:16
Gabe
Sold in the US. I love it so much. Oh, animation. I'm sorry.

00:24:59:16 - 00:25:01:28
Gabe
I just we had to. We had to have.

00:25:01:28 - 00:25:02:17
Gabe
That moment.

00:25:05:07 - 00:25:07:14
Lauren
Totally. Spies is getting.

00:25:08:21 - 00:25:11:11
Gabe
Oh no. Are they getting a live action?

00:25:12:02 - 00:25:23:12
Lauren
I don't think so. I don't think should be live action. I think it was just they were going to revive the series fair.

00:25:23:25 - 00:25:41:12
Gabe
I feel like we should do an episode on like our childhood, maybe more female targeted shows like that. Yeah, totally. Spicer's great.

00:25:41:13 - 00:25:46:10
Gabe
There's others I think are bigger on.

00:25:46:10 - 00:25:53:03
Lauren
Oh my gosh, that's so funny. That woman who voice acted for Sam and totally spies also did Mandy.

00:25:54:03 - 00:26:00:23
Gabe
Oh in in the the the the rabbit. Oh, no way. Which Mandy you.

00:26:00:29 - 00:26:05:03
Lauren
Girl. Mandy The main popular girl.

00:26:05:03 - 00:26:13:06
Gabe
Mandy way in the same show time confuse Mandy in a much show.

00:26:14:22 - 00:26:15:27
Lauren
Totally spies.

00:26:15:27 - 00:26:16:14
Gabe
Yes.

00:26:17:28 - 00:26:20:07
Lauren
Oh, man. And Sam.

00:26:20:07 - 00:26:26:07
Gabe
I know who Sam is. I know who Sam is. I don't remember any other character names besides that.

00:26:26:08 - 00:26:36:25
Lauren
He's the mean, popular, dark brunet girl who's the main antagonist. Oh, yeah. Cool life.

00:26:37:16 - 00:26:39:20
Gabe
Yes, yes, yes.

00:26:39:20 - 00:26:42:02
Lauren
Sorry. I understand. Sam and Mandy is the same woman.

00:26:42:23 - 00:26:43:15
Gabe
Gotcha.

00:26:43:17 - 00:26:43:29
Lauren
That's all.

00:26:44:11 - 00:26:59:05
Gabe
It's okay. I thought you meant, like, in another show. So that was really confused. And then I was like, Are we talking about. Never mind, though. I think I was thinking of a Disney show. It was like Mandy and Mr. Whiskers.

00:26:59:05 - 00:27:00:04
Gabe
Or something like that.

00:27:01:16 - 00:27:04:21
Lauren
Oh yeah. The one with the.

00:27:04:27 - 00:27:05:19
Gabe
The dog and the.

00:27:05:19 - 00:27:09:14
Gabe
Rabbit, the whole thing.

00:27:09:14 - 00:27:12:15
Lauren
Right. But it was also like the Grim Reaper, right?

00:27:13:03 - 00:27:17:18
Gabe
Oh, roll over. She also named Mandy.

00:27:17:18 - 00:27:18:15
Gabe
That could be.

00:27:18:22 - 00:27:19:13
Gabe
Oh, now.

00:27:24:06 - 00:27:25:22
Gabe
That's a Grimm's Fairy Tales.

00:27:25:22 - 00:27:26:23
Gabe
Is that what it was called?

00:27:27:05 - 00:27:31:08
Lauren
No. Oh, Brandy and Mr. Whispers Brand.

00:27:31:08 - 00:27:35:06
Gabe
There we go. But I think it is I think it is Mandy, though.

00:27:35:06 - 00:27:44:13
Gabe
And in the I don't remember what the show was called, though.

00:27:44:13 - 00:27:49:21
Lauren
Yeah, I think it was the grim adventures of like Bill and Mandy or something like that.

00:27:50:21 - 00:27:51:19
Gabe
Oh, yeah. Okay.

00:27:51:19 - 00:27:55:19
Gabe
Okay, wait. That's right. Grim adventures.

00:27:56:01 - 00:27:57:15
Gabe
Yeah. Billy and Mandy.

00:27:58:16 - 00:28:00:29
Lauren
Mandy. Wow. I pulled Billy out of somewhere.

00:28:02:02 - 00:28:04:10
Gabe
I remember Billy. I kind of forgot.

00:28:04:10 - 00:28:05:27
Gabe
About Mandy because.

00:28:05:27 - 00:28:07:13
Gabe
Billy just always kind of grossed.

00:28:07:13 - 00:28:07:26
Gabe
Me out.

00:28:08:11 - 00:28:10:04
Gabe
He did stuff that I was like.

00:28:11:21 - 00:28:14:12
Gabe
Can you not?

00:28:14:12 - 00:28:15:07
Gabe
I did not watch.

00:28:15:14 - 00:28:19:26
Lauren
Any of these shows. We did not have these channels at my house.

00:28:20:12 - 00:28:21:14
Gabe
We didn't have these out from.

00:28:21:14 - 00:28:23:21
Lauren
Like advertisements that I've seen.

00:28:24:08 - 00:28:24:22
Gabe
Oh.

00:28:25:09 - 00:28:29:03
Gabe
We don't have this either. I only watch them at my grandma's house.

00:28:29:29 - 00:28:30:27
Gabe
To be honest with you.

00:28:32:13 - 00:28:54:18
Gabe
So it's totally fair. I winks. We could watch out at home. I somehow. That was on the basic cable, I think. I don't know. I just know every Saturday morning that was my ish and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. We could watch that on the basic cable. I was like, Say, less teen titans. I'm there.

00:28:55:22 - 00:28:58:29
Lauren
Well, that makes sense because they weren't either Nickelodeon or Disney.

00:28:59:07 - 00:29:00:09
Gabe
Now they're different.

00:29:00:14 - 00:29:05:10
Lauren
They were just part of like maybe not PBS, but like some of the.

00:29:05:25 - 00:29:06:08
Gabe
Other.

00:29:06:29 - 00:29:24:29
Lauren
Channels. Yeah. That were just like, Oh, excellent. We finally have cartoons that are not made in trademark by Nickelodeon or Disney and we can actually show and I know that there was a certain point in time where that was relatively few and far between.

00:29:25:07 - 00:29:25:17
Gabe
Yeah.

00:29:25:26 - 00:29:27:10
Gabe
You just have like PBS.

00:29:27:21 - 00:29:28:05
Gabe
And don't get me.

00:29:28:05 - 00:29:30:05
Gabe
Wrong, I loved all the PBS kids shows.

00:29:30:05 - 00:29:32:20
Gabe
But yeah, so you wanted variety.

00:29:33:00 - 00:29:33:18
Gabe
Okay?

00:29:34:02 - 00:29:39:16
Lauren
Sometimes you didn't want just pure education. Okay.

00:29:39:16 - 00:29:50:18
Gabe
Lesson. The Winx clubs taught me about fashion, okay? And they taught me on loyalty and to not be afraid to be who I am. Okay.

00:29:52:12 - 00:29:53:07
Lauren
And I love that.

00:29:54:08 - 00:29:59:12
Gabe
I love that for you, sweetie. Anyways, stop.

00:29:59:12 - 00:30:03:23
Gabe
We have to stop. We can't keep talking about this because we'll just continue to.

00:30:03:23 - 00:30:04:07
Gabe
Go.

00:30:05:05 - 00:30:18:27
Gabe
Down the rabbit hole. That can be a next episode. We just. We come in with nothing and see what tangents we go on for an hour and a half. Tell me that wouldn't be a little funny.

00:30:20:12 - 00:30:22:13
Lauren
I mean, it's kind of what we do.

00:30:23:17 - 00:30:26:02
Gabe
It's really bad. We don't. We can't help.

00:30:26:02 - 00:30:27:04
Gabe
It, but.

00:30:27:15 - 00:30:56:20
Gabe
We say something and it just triggers all these other things. Like, I was okay, I came up okay. So the whole point of what this episode was supposed to be is we've talked, I feel like about bits and pieces of our gaming life gaming experience, right? But we've never really addressed the whole thing. So I was kind of like, what if we talked about our gaming experience and kind of got the bigger picture of it right?

00:30:56:20 - 00:31:09:19
Gabe
So I started with like, I'm going to just write these short answers, but as you can see, as I thought about it more and more, they just became paragraphs and pair graphs and like, Oh gosh, she's going to look at this and be like.

00:31:09:29 - 00:31:11:00
Gabe
Wtf, bro?

00:31:12:01 - 00:31:29:20
Lauren
So this is season two and some of you may not know us. And so this is a good way to kind of get to know us round two. And it's also a lot of the questions that we'll be eventually asking some of our guests on this show.

00:31:30:12 - 00:31:46:28
Gabe
Yeah, that's true. That was also kind of what I was thinking about, too, was I don't know, because maybe people don't want to go back all the way to our first episode where we talk about ourselves or like, you know, they missed some episodes or maybe we talked about some stuff.

00:31:47:15 - 00:31:52:11
Gabe
Just felt like a good. Yeah, refresher.

00:31:52:20 - 00:31:58:26
Gabe
It is a good refresher. Do you want me to do you want me to talk about my paragraph verse of what got me in the game? Or do you want to go first?

00:31:59:25 - 00:32:05:18
Lauren
Sure. Gabe, what got you into game?

00:32:05:18 - 00:32:22:15
Gabe
I can't I can't decide if I want to read my paragraph. Said I thought it just you know, I'll start with the paragraph I. Okay. I could have answered this freehand easily. It was always my dad. It was my dad because he used to game for like as long as I. Okay. As long.

00:32:22:15 - 00:32:23:12
Gabe
As I've known him my.

00:32:23:12 - 00:32:48:14
Gabe
Whole life, whatever. He gave birth to me, he did whatever. Anyways, he used to game with two of our really close family friends that we had, and like that that was their thing was, you know, gaming board games, card games. And so I used to always sit on his lap watching him. Okay. And then ironically, I just stop before you came and I was talking to him.

00:32:48:23 - 00:33:05:03
Gabe
So the main game that he played when I was really little was it was called Hexagon. And he came over and I was like, Dad, I don't know if I had a dream about this or if I really saw this on steam, but they they made hexagon on steam. So you can play it on the computer. You're like, Why?

00:33:05:03 - 00:33:12:09
Gabe
And I was like, Wait, let me pull it up in case I would just imagine this. But it actually is on steam now. So it's a.

00:33:13:15 - 00:33:18:08
Gabe
He came out in the nineties, but I'm I'm not 100% I'm pretty sure it came out in the nineties.

00:33:19:07 - 00:33:21:24
Gabe
And he was like, Oh my gosh, I'd be crazy to.

00:33:21:24 - 00:33:23:23
Gabe
Play it anyways.

00:33:25:03 - 00:33:38:05
Gabe
Oh, I did. Right in here. They remade it on steam. Maybe that's why. I don't know. But yeah, that was something I thought about streaming just for the feels. And I know anyways, as I got older, you know, he would let me.

00:33:38:05 - 00:33:40:01
Gabe
Like press some of the keys.

00:33:40:11 - 00:33:42:09
Gabe
With him or like help.

00:33:43:05 - 00:34:15:01
Lauren
But were you pressing keys like you were actually doing things or was he letting you press keys that didn't do anything but just like made you feel involved? Like, I've seen so many tiktoks like people putting on their TV screens. Some like, I don't know if they're like, we fit games or other games and their kids just kind of bounce around because you have to like jump on the beat or something and they're just like, We're doing it, we're doing it, but they're not connected to anything.

00:34:15:01 - 00:34:25:09
Lauren
And so they're just like going through the game and just being like, Oh my gosh, we're doing it. We're doing it. We're doing so good. We're like getting all the things and then the game ends and they win.

00:34:25:09 - 00:34:46:20
Gabe
And honestly, I wish she let me fake it to make it somebody did it. We actually because we, we, we always played a PC, PC gamers. That's what we were. And, um, oh, so I goes to talk about the first game that I played with him because I didn't play the hex and he was like, That's a little too violent.

00:34:46:20 - 00:34:48:00
Gabe
Like, I can't have you.

00:34:48:02 - 00:34:54:08
Gabe
What is Hexum Um, so you.

00:34:54:08 - 00:35:13:16
Gabe
Can be so like, I have very vague memories of it. It was kind of a darker game or it looks dark, I don't know if the story is actually darker, but it's like it's kind of like a hellscape and you're, Oh, okay, fire. I mean, you're killing monsters and stuff, but.

00:35:14:04 - 00:35:15:18
Gabe
It's I don't know.

00:35:16:26 - 00:35:41:27
Gabe
I'd have to look at I'd have to look at it. I just have very, very like pictures of it in my mind. And I still have this CD and like the CD case because, you know, that was I don't know, that was like our first moment. Gaming has just always been gaming. And sports and the outdoors are like the three things where me and my dad bond.

00:35:42:18 - 00:35:44:12
Gabe
So, so.

00:35:45:16 - 00:35:46:02
Lauren
Standard.

00:35:46:09 - 00:35:48:02
Gabe
Yes. Yeah. So the first game.

00:35:48:02 - 00:35:49:01
Lauren
After D&D things.

00:35:49:18 - 00:36:13:24
Gabe
That's pretty true. The first game we played together was San Sarah, I call it Zander. But when you watch like trailers and stuff, they called it San Sarah. It was a ferry game. And so it was kind of like Pokémon in that you collected fairies and you use fairies to battle. But I, I feel okay. It's more mature than Pokémon and I think it has way more lore and story than Pokémon.

00:36:13:25 - 00:36:15:12
Gabe
No offense, but come on, don't get upset.

00:36:15:12 - 00:36:42:16
Gabe
Don't come for me. I'm sorry. I'm not trying to be rude. And that the battle was more involved because like when you're battling with your fairies, like you were the fairy, it was first person you were actually doing the flying and like shooting your spouse and like charging up and trying to destroy the other fairies. And so to answer your question, he would let me like press the buttons.

00:36:42:16 - 00:37:03:08
Gabe
So usually, like we would do it where he would be the mouse and then I would be the movement and he'd be like yelling at me. So I kind of wish they'd just let me think I was doing something because I was like, I tried so hard. I don't know.

00:37:03:16 - 00:37:07:12
Gabe
Hold down shift, you know, hold down shift very hard.

00:37:07:14 - 00:37:14:18
Gabe
Be screaming at me to press the spacebar because the spacebar was how you switch fairies. So that was the thing too, for the super big battles.

00:37:16:00 - 00:37:16:09
Gabe
He.

00:37:16:09 - 00:37:38:24
Gabe
Would like. Um, so the first thing you do is beat, assess the other team because you can look at the other teams fairies before the battle. So obviously you don't know which ones are going to be pulling out, but you can look at them and we'd make a plan of attack, right? We'd be like, okay, if they pull out this fairy, we then have to pull out this fairy because this is, you know, it's counter or what's going to be good against the right.

00:37:38:25 - 00:37:52:06
Gabe
So we make our plan of attack or be like, okay, so he would do all the flying and like the shooting and my sole job was the spacebar and be ready to switch what fairy we had according to which fairy they pulled out.

00:37:54:04 - 00:37:54:29
Gabe
Like really.

00:37:57:18 - 00:38:22:02
Gabe
It's such a such a good game though I love it so much. And then the other games when I was younger that he gave me to kind of like encourage me and he played with me was the Harry Potter computer games. And I, I remember in the first Harry Potter game, I could never beat the troll. The trolls like chasing you, and you're like, collecting jellybeans, and it's like, super intense.

00:38:22:02 - 00:38:44:21
Gabe
You're trying to jump over these holes in the ground. And I could never do it. So he always had to do that for me. And then when we're in the library trying to get Norbert up to the top. So Ron's brother can take him away so Helga doesn't get in trouble. You're like going through all these library levels and filters.

00:38:44:21 - 00:39:03:00
Gabe
They're trying to find you. And then eventually Mrs. Norris comes. So I can like, I could like, kind of handle felch. But the second Ms.. Norris was there, it was like too much anxiety for me. I feel like, Oh, Dad, I need you to help me. I just I can't do it. I can't handle this. It's scaring me if freaks me out.

00:39:03:26 - 00:39:07:24
Gabe
But then we had a strike, too. And then the Nancy Drew game, he. He got me my.

00:39:07:24 - 00:39:08:24
Gabe
First Nancy Drew, Dave.

00:39:09:06 - 00:39:32:19
Gabe
And then he continued to get them for me and get them for me. So I was mainly PC Gamer and I did like the Inscape in middle school. But then my day care lady, my day care mom, her daughter, who was my friend, and then some of my other friends between those I played on the Gamecube, Nintendo, DS X-Box.

00:39:32:19 - 00:39:56:26
Gabe
P.S., Game Boy and stuff. So and then and then like I was telling you, those games you could plug in to the PCs we had the Mary-Kate and Ashley Sweet 16 and those designer games I had to stop and it's too much nostalgia for me anyways. What got you into gaming?

00:39:56:26 - 00:39:57:07
Gabe
So you.

00:39:58:12 - 00:39:58:29
Gabe
Are Lauren.

00:39:58:29 - 00:40:27:19
Lauren
So I was also my parents, but they were so I had a computer in my bedroom that did not have internet that was just like, you know, could have word on it and whatever. And then I'd have to transfer my documents on to like a thumb drive or whatever and take it upstairs if I needed to print anything out.

00:40:28:08 - 00:40:38:01
Gabe
But can I just say that was kind of the beauty of PC gaming back in the day is you just had CD, so it didn't matter if you had internet or not. Yeah, sorry.

00:40:38:03 - 00:41:07:20
Lauren
Particularly nice though. First my parents were getting me CDs like math blasters or other like educational. Yes. Games where you would like solve math problems and then, you know, your rocket ship would be getting fixed or you'd go and play all of these mini games to save these people and whatever and then eventually get back home. But you would have to do different types of math and there were different levels you could be at.

00:41:07:20 - 00:41:11:03
Lauren
And so it was very educational but still fun.

00:41:12:14 - 00:41:17:29
Gabe
Do you do type two, learn three or type two? Learn any of those?

00:41:17:29 - 00:41:54:09
Lauren
I There's probably two types to learn. Yeah. Yeah, there was. Yeah. So I just remember a variety of like those kind of educational games that I was playing. And then Nancy Drew definitely my mom was getting because I was because the for Nancy Drew's that I have or that I had on CD, as I've explained before, are all ones that came out between like 2002 and 2005, I think.

00:41:55:05 - 00:41:55:25
Gabe
Well, what you just.

00:41:55:26 - 00:42:11:03
Lauren
Started about like so it was a message in a haunted mansion treasure in the royal tower, final scene and secret of the Scarlet Hand. And I think all of those came out like 2000 to 2000 for.

00:42:11:17 - 00:42:16:19
Gabe
Did you not play Curse of Black Merman or when you were younger?

00:42:16:19 - 00:42:22:20
Lauren
So I had those four and I just talked about on CD-ROM. I owned.

00:42:22:20 - 00:42:23:05
Gabe
Those.

00:42:23:25 - 00:42:27:22
Lauren
And so we played them a lot. But then we would rent the other ones from the library.

00:42:27:23 - 00:42:29:15
Gabe
Oh, yeah, yeah. Okay.

00:42:29:22 - 00:42:58:10
Lauren
But the ones that we didn't have, those ones we would like start and then, you know, get stuck and then the next week come back to it. And at that point we had completely forgotten anything that was going on. And I was like 11. So my brain was not exactly good at remembering details or materials. So a lot of those were really, really hard just being broken up and just being young.

00:42:58:19 - 00:43:19:13
Gabe
Some of them are actually really hard. When you were young, like some made more sense. I think we're a little bit easier logic for a child to follow, but then some of them were just like Blackmore. Manor was really hard for me when I was young. It also traumatized me. That one was so scary as a child.

00:43:20:25 - 00:43:39:24
Lauren
Some of the game is more of a linear situation and you just, you know, you solve a couple puzzles and then you move forward and don't have to worry about those puzzles. And then you solve another couple puzzles and then you don't have to worry. Like Trish in the real tower is perfect for that.

00:43:40:00 - 00:43:40:14
Gabe
Right?

00:43:40:19 - 00:44:10:00
Lauren
How do you linear like you still have solve puzzles but they're more of like small individual things that you have to figure out. They're not that like in Blackmore Manor where you have to go back and do 12 things that you've kind of been accumulating over time in order to finish up the story. So there's there's just a lot more information that comes from a lot of different places, and that's hard for a kid.

00:44:10:16 - 00:44:12:16
Gabe
You have bringing that all together and.

00:44:12:25 - 00:44:13:08
Gabe
Yeah.

00:44:14:01 - 00:44:36:09
Lauren
Yeah. So like even message in a haunted mansion where you have to collect all of those Chinese symbols around the house when you run into them and when you run into them, Nancy will say, Oh, a child. Like she'll call it out for you. But if you're not picking up on that and you're not looking out for them, and then at the end of the game, when you're faced with the puzzle, we have to do it.

00:44:36:09 - 00:44:52:18
Lauren
And you're like, Oh, no, I wasn't making notes of what all of these are. I need to go back and like find and look for them. Like you can mostly get a line in that game, not really taking notes, but then some of the final puzzles at the end, you're just like, Oh.

00:44:53:21 - 00:44:57:19
Gabe
I feel like that's something to write as a kid. You don't necessarily know what you should be.

00:44:57:19 - 00:44:58:24
Gabe
Taking note of.

00:44:59:05 - 00:45:18:15
Gabe
Because like when I was older, playing back these games, you know, when I've done my marathons, it's very much my brain's like, okay, this is definitely going to come up in something. This is our play and even other games, you just, you know what I mean? But as a kid, you're just kind of like, if either all seems important or nothing, it's.

00:45:18:22 - 00:45:19:05
Gabe
More.

00:45:20:13 - 00:45:42:09
Lauren
All, especially kids rush, kids, keep it move. And kids are just, like, boring. I don't want to read that. Oh, I want to keep looking. I want to go find the ghost. I want to go do that stuff like. Yeah. And so they're, they're thinking ahead to what they want to do and not necessarily thinking about the clues or the thing or the hints the game is trying to show you.

00:45:42:09 - 00:45:57:07
Lauren
So there were a lot of times that we would have to go and like look up the answers or whatever to a specific puzzle because we don't know where to go find all of the different pieces.

00:45:58:10 - 00:46:31:25
Gabe
Do you remember the like super old like original walkthrough site for these games? And it was like, yes, like it was like the question you could like click it and it would like give one thing and then you could like further expand. That gives me such a nostalgia because now that I don't even know if you can find that if you type in a Nancy Drew walk through like it shows all these other different things, I'm like, But the O.G., the OG prevented you from finding spoilers because it knew what you'd be asking.

00:46:32:09 - 00:46:32:26
Gabe
You know what I mean?

00:46:33:18 - 00:46:36:02
Gabe
Do you want to talk about the Xbox.

00:46:36:02 - 00:46:39:09
Gabe
Before we go on?

00:46:39:09 - 00:47:29:17
Lauren
Yeah. So when I was anyway, so yes. So Nancy Drew was basically the only thing that I was playing when I was a teenager because I had moved on past all of the educational games I was just doing. Nancy Drew I, oh, I got into the some of the Flash games. So I go up to my family's computer that had Internet and that's where I'd play, like my scene or any of those flash games that were girly in about fashion or kind of precursor to any of those like, like the Kim Kardashian game or any of those other ones where you'd like walk around and interact with people and like have little conversations and do

00:47:29:17 - 00:47:43:15
Lauren
little fashion things and whatever, whatever. So, so yeah, a lot of those flash games, that's what I spend time with. And then just the Nancy Drew. So my sister and I would play.

00:47:44:16 - 00:47:55:26
Gabe
I'm sure we didn't play like like Sims or anything. You give me those kind of vibes. Like I feel like as a kid you would have been playing The Sims or like The Tycoon games.

00:47:57:00 - 00:47:59:06
Lauren
I did play The Tycoon games.

00:47:59:07 - 00:48:00:22
Gabe
Did you? I played those with.

00:48:00:22 - 00:48:04:05
Gabe
One of my she loved those did.

00:48:04:05 - 00:48:28:14
Lauren
Have some tycoon. And I'm trying to think of like the CD ROMs that are at my parents house that I haven't touched in 15 years. But yeah, now. And so you tycoon, my sister and I played that for sure. I believe I had Sims too, but I didn't play too much of it.

00:48:28:25 - 00:48:29:05
Gabe
Yeah.

00:48:30:00 - 00:48:46:18
Lauren
I yeah. I don't know if my computer maybe just I couldn't run it very well or. I mean, I definitely got into Sims later, right? I had a laptop that could run more things.

00:48:46:27 - 00:48:58:19
Gabe
Okay, but Sims, that's fair because my honest opinion, some of the some games, I feel like all the SIM games are kind of poorly optimized. Even if you had a good computer, sometimes it would just be weird.

00:48:58:23 - 00:49:02:21
Lauren
But yeah, my sister got an Xbox because.

00:49:03:21 - 00:49:04:11
Gabe
Her.

00:49:04:18 - 00:49:28:19
Lauren
Boyfriend at the time had a group of their friends, all played a lot of Xbox games and I was preparing to go off to college. And so my parents kind of as a consolation gift, it's just like, okay, your sister is abandoning you, so let's give you an Xbox. I was moving barely away and she ended up going to the same college.

00:49:28:19 - 00:49:31:05
Gabe
So it's not like you.

00:49:31:05 - 00:49:32:06
Gabe
Were you.

00:49:32:06 - 00:49:33:18
Gabe
Had to go to college like.

00:49:34:05 - 00:49:35:24
Gabe
It's okay.

00:49:35:24 - 00:49:41:09
Lauren
Now. My sister and I are very close and so our separation is just very sad.

00:49:42:00 - 00:49:49:21
Gabe
I feel that. I feel that me and my sister the same way I totally understand. That's what she said to me when I went to college was that I was abandoning her and I was like.

00:49:50:21 - 00:49:52:00
Gabe
What do you want from me?

00:49:52:29 - 00:50:00:26
Lauren
Yeah. As the older child, it's hard for me to like picture.

00:50:01:13 - 00:50:01:21
Gabe
Yeah.

00:50:02:01 - 00:50:24:13
Lauren
That like picture the idea of, like, if I was the younger sibling or if I yeah, if I had an older sibling too and loved and I looked up to and, you know, was a very important, impactful person in my life and they went off to college and all of a sudden I was kind of an only child.

00:50:24:13 - 00:50:33:11
Lauren
Yeah. For another few years before going off to college, it's. It's hard for me to, like, picture that life.

00:50:33:16 - 00:50:35:25
Gabe
Yeah, I kind of.

00:50:35:26 - 00:50:44:13
Lauren
Get the blame. You're just like, I'm out of here. You'll be out of here a.S.A.P once you're done too. So, like, come on, we're all in this together.

00:50:45:00 - 00:50:49:19
Gabe
That's true. I get it a little bit because my sister's almost nine years.

00:50:49:19 - 00:50:53:29
Gabe
Younger than me. And so when I moved.

00:50:53:29 - 00:50:55:18
Gabe
Back in with my parents.

00:50:56:03 - 00:50:56:19
Gabe
You know.

00:50:57:02 - 00:50:58:06
Gabe
Like this is her first.

00:50:58:06 - 00:50:59:00
Gabe
Year in college.

00:50:59:15 - 00:51:16:14
Gabe
So it was very strange being back home. And I think for a year she, you know, she was here and all that and it was like like I never left home. Yeah, but then right. She went to college this year and it was it was so strange. I was so sad to not have her because, like, we were close and we did.

00:51:17:03 - 00:51:20:24
Gabe
You know, I don't know. I was like another mom to her and she.

00:51:20:24 - 00:51:32:03
Gabe
Was my little baby. So when left, I was like, Oh, so that's what it felt like. She was like, Yeah, because she used.

00:51:32:03 - 00:51:43:09
Gabe
To. When I went to college, she messaged me every night at night, but I was like, Well, soon. So she anyways, I'm sorry.

00:51:44:10 - 00:51:47:17
Lauren
We it's so hard when things change.

00:51:47:29 - 00:51:48:06
Gabe
Yeah.

00:51:48:20 - 00:52:07:06
Lauren
And it's hard to be the one who's watching change happen, especially as a teenager when you're still trying to like figure your life out and you're like, This is all I've ever known.

00:52:07:20 - 00:52:08:08
Gabe
Yeah.

00:52:08:24 - 00:52:32:28
Lauren
And then something changes whether that, you know, your sibling goes to college or like something else happens to your family dynamic. And all of a sudden you're like, This has been my entire world, and my entire world is gone. And it's not you're not the one going to college, so you're not the one who's, like, walking off and like being like, Hello, world, I'm here.

00:52:33:16 - 00:52:43:00
Lauren
You're the one who's left behind. Yeah. In a weird space that is home. But it doesn't it's not the same home.

00:52:44:12 - 00:52:54:13
Gabe
For for the first like ten years of my sister's life, we shared a room. So, like, she moved into my.

00:52:54:13 - 00:52:54:24
Gabe
Room.

00:52:56:24 - 00:53:21:29
Gabe
And we, we had a bunk bed. And so we, you know, we literally, like, completely worked together for like ten years. I don't know if I ever told you this, too. It was a little traumatizing. So, you know, when she was really little and we shared the room, obviously I would change in the room that because I was older and, you know, going through puberty and stuff, my sister would be like, Oh, my gosh, what's that?

00:53:21:29 - 00:53:48:07
Gabe
What's your how is your chest look like that? Or you you have hair on your prime like that. And I was like, Do you mind? Can you leave me alone? But it was, it was very strange. But when I went to college, B, my mom moved her workroom downstairs because we finished the basement, and then her workroom on the first floor became my bedroom.

00:53:48:14 - 00:53:59:00
Gabe
And it was like, like, I know my sister was happy to have her own room, but it was also really sad and and strange because we'd been listening to each other sleep.

00:53:59:14 - 00:54:10:26
Gabe
I strict. Oh, yeah. Sad times. I'm sorry.

00:54:10:26 - 00:54:20:06
Gabe
Don't look at me. You're the one who says Do you have stuff to keep time but I keep interrupting you. I'm so sorry. Start to cry I'm going to cry. Stop it right now. I'm drinking my smoothie. I can't.

00:54:24:19 - 00:54:55:17
Lauren
Anyway. So on the Xbox that my sister got, we played Skyrim and we played Halo and we did like, just let's just dance or whatever that game was. We're kind of like a little exercise thing and you just, you know, jump around. And it was, it was just dance three because it had Jenny on Guitar On Out by Laura Bell Bundy and which was my fave fair.

00:54:55:18 - 00:54:56:18
Gabe
Okay, maybe I'm just.

00:54:56:18 - 00:55:03:19
Gabe
Confusing the dance sense or evolution. I'm sorry. My apologies.

00:55:04:21 - 00:55:08:16
Gabe
Just stand. It'll be okay. Okay.

00:55:08:16 - 00:55:09:20
Gabe
Anyways, I'm.

00:55:10:29 - 00:55:25:03
Lauren
Anyways, but yeah. So that's kind of when I started getting into like real games quote unquote, like getting out like kind of early days CD rom because I yeah.

00:55:25:12 - 00:55:40:00
Gabe
Like that was gaming then. Like, what do you mean that's just for gaming was so I swear I'm confused why as you say, since you were 12. Because I feel like it sounds like you started earlier than that prob.

00:55:40:03 - 00:55:44:17
Lauren
Yeah, maybe ten. I'll say ten.

00:55:45:18 - 00:55:47:24
Gabe
Okay. Well mine was.

00:55:47:24 - 00:55:55:28
Gabe
My whole life. I'm just going to say my whole life because I was playing with my dad and came out of the womb a game or.

00:55:57:20 - 00:56:13:07
Lauren
When my dad really wasn't. I mean, I'm sure he he was he did computers for his career. Now, computers, charity and he and infrastructure stuff and um.

00:56:13:07 - 00:56:13:13
Gabe
And.

00:56:13:13 - 00:56:44:00
Lauren
He, so I'm sure he played video games of a sort, but he's starting to get into a lot of the Xbox game in Xbox games. My sister was playing so like he enjoyed Halo and like would play Halo with us and oh gosh, if there was another game that he like got pretty into, I don't remember when it was so, but it was very funny.

00:56:44:24 - 00:56:48:18
Lauren
Oh, he was like mostly retired and was just like, you know.

00:56:49:23 - 00:56:51:01
Gabe
Let's dance.

00:56:52:06 - 00:56:54:08
Gabe
With you. Oh.

00:56:54:26 - 00:56:57:05
Lauren
That's gonna get you on out.

00:56:58:17 - 00:57:01:02
Gabe
I love that for you. Mm hmm.

00:57:01:17 - 00:57:23:00
Gabe
All right. I hope you expand upon your answer. What kinds of games do you like to play? Because mine's a paragraph. And then I felt guilty for writing this much because I know we've talked about this before, but I felt like I just if if you don't know, honestly, I play all genres of games. I like.

00:57:23:27 - 00:57:25:09
Gabe
I just like game.

00:57:25:24 - 00:57:47:29
Gabe
And I like a variety. But if I had to like try to narrow it down, which I feel like I really didn't because I have four, I did survival or story or puzzle and I like that still makes it very broad. But those would be like if I could only play certain kinds of games fresh from my life, that's what I would choose.

00:57:49:01 - 00:58:02:12
Gabe
But then I do play competitive and ranked games because that's what a lot of my male friends enjoy. But then I also play like, like Stardew Valley and, and those kinds of games because that's what.

00:58:03:09 - 00:58:04:20
Gabe
A lot of my female.

00:58:05:06 - 00:58:08:21
Gabe
Friends like to play. And then there's the games that I.

00:58:08:21 - 00:58:13:02
Gabe
Personally like to play. I home, you know.

00:58:13:02 - 00:58:40:03
Gabe
This is true freedom. Back when I said my top favorite, if I had to choose one, would be community games or basically any kind of game where you can directly experience with another person. Because I, I don't know, I think it's because I grew up gaming with my dad and having that bond that I like, having that connection of experiencing it with someone and like that's why I started streaming even in the first place was like, yes, I want to help people.

00:58:40:03 - 00:58:49:07
Gabe
That's also a main thing. But it was it was sharing the experience with, with other people and like being able to talk about it and.

00:58:49:23 - 00:58:51:00
Gabe
And all that kind of stuff.

00:58:51:14 - 00:58:55:11
Lauren
So yeah, well, I mean, it's adventuring.

00:58:55:26 - 00:58:56:07
Gabe
Yeah.

00:58:56:18 - 00:59:30:09
Lauren
With friends or family or whoever. It's Yeah. Half the fun of gaming, which again is how we both got into Twitch, is sharing your experience with someone else and being able to talk to someone else about it. Because otherwise, if you're just sitting around playing video games by yourself, like that's an isolating experience, like you're aware, enjoying the story and the depth and all of the work and the art and solving puzzles.

00:59:30:09 - 00:59:43:27
Lauren
And just like utilizing so much of your brain, but not being able to like talk about that or share that with other people. I mean, it's fun, but at some point it's not enough.

00:59:44:07 - 00:59:45:24
Gabe
Yeah, yeah.

00:59:46:20 - 00:59:59:19
Lauren
It can be. It can feel really nice as kind of a break to recharge your social batteries or to just like get really deep into something. And then you emerge and you're like, Oh, what time is it?

01:00:00:05 - 01:00:06:07
Gabe
But and you learn stuff like, yeah, about.

01:00:06:20 - 01:00:08:22
Lauren
How other people solve things.

01:00:10:21 - 01:00:13:22
Gabe
Oh, sorry. I just the you learn stuff about people you're.

01:00:13:22 - 01:00:15:05
Gabe
Playing with too. Yeah.

01:00:15:24 - 01:00:26:24
Gabe
Of like how they like their perspective on things, how they see things. So they look at the world and what they, what they get from the game versus maybe how.

01:00:26:24 - 01:00:34:27
Gabe
You saw it. But my sense yeah.

01:00:34:27 - 01:00:42:13
Gabe
What's your favorite games or genre? Come on, just tell us. Expand upon it, please. It's like six words.

01:00:42:15 - 01:01:18:00
Lauren
Do I do a lot of point and click mysteries, puzzles? I find that in most the media consume, whether that's books or TV shows or movies. I like a mystery aspect. I always have those. I've always been the books and whatnot that I've been drawn to. I like having. It doesn't have to be a murder mystery, but that's kind of how a lot of those go shapes it.

01:01:18:00 - 01:01:20:23
Gabe
Dead.

01:01:20:23 - 01:02:02:01
Lauren
But I like the unraveling piece of something has happened and you have to find out what whether it's figuring it out from some of these interactions or finding clues. I my brain is doing its crown mode of like, ooh, something shiny over there. I want to go pick it up and then I want to connect the pieces and put the puzzle together and say, Great, here's what I can do with all these things I've acquired and here's how I can use logic to figure out what happened like, I just get a lot of joy from being able to do that.

01:02:03:03 - 01:02:23:03
Lauren
And so other puzzle games are like Stardew Valley or anything else where it's just like, I'm going to do these things and then it's going to result in getting this or Yeah, otherwise being successful and being able to move on to the next level. It itches my brain in a good way.

01:02:24:19 - 01:02:48:00
Gabe
I like it. I feel that, I love that. That's why I love puzzle games too. And yeah, we grew up watching a lot of, like, murder, not murder mystery TV series. It was either mystery or sci fi, to be honest with you. It was monster movies, horror or I feel like a lot of it was murder mystery.

01:02:48:00 - 01:02:50:03
Gabe
I feel like a lot of mysteries have murder.

01:02:51:18 - 01:03:19:10
Lauren
I recently purchased the add on to my Amazon Prime account for Hallmark. Oh yeah. Yeah. Because the Hallmark movie and movies and mysteries channel where all the horrific written murder mysteries, where there's, you know, like a touch of romance and it's always just, you know, a strong woman who's not looking for a relationship. And she needs just, just charming guy who helps her solve crimes.

01:03:20:29 - 01:03:31:08
Lauren
It's just very fun for me. I love a casual game that I can be playing on one screen and then have like a bad TV show up on the other one.

01:03:31:09 - 01:03:34:18
Gabe
Have your whole life got the other?

01:03:34:18 - 01:03:54:17
Lauren
Exactly. Not like playing a game like The Sims or like something else where it's kind of there's not a story going on. It's kind of mindless. And I could, but I can just be like, Ooh, I want to do this thing or I want to do that thing, or I'm going to put this together and then everyone. And then just like having Yeah.

01:03:54:21 - 01:04:15:14
Lauren
And understanding what's going on at the screen without having to pay a lot of attention to that as well. It's just very nice. It's just it's the same as just doing a puzzle while watching a movie. It's yeah. Having something to do with my hands and being like, Oh, what can I do over here? And so it's a little bit of creativity.

01:04:16:21 - 01:04:33:25
Lauren
Yeah, but if my brain says, Oh, you know, I'm going to take a break for a second, we're just going to let stuff work it out in the cogs of the brain while I then turn and watch whatever stupid thing I have on. It's just nice. It's just a nice name.

01:04:34:07 - 01:04:35:28
Gabe
And it's I love that for you.

01:04:37:19 - 01:04:39:00
Gabe
All right. What's your favorite.

01:04:39:00 - 01:04:42:00
Gabe
Game?

01:04:42:00 - 01:04:45:28
Lauren
So I had to think about this.

01:04:45:28 - 01:04:46:17
Gabe
I did, too.

01:04:46:19 - 01:05:10:05
Lauren
Every game is Crusader Kings three. And I say that based purely on the number of hours that I have spent playing it, because I have played truly so, so many hours of Crusader Kings three, because it is decently mindless where you're just like like.

01:05:11:00 - 01:05:13:19
Gabe
Her original answer was Hades. If you guys.

01:05:13:19 - 01:05:15:13
Gabe
Are wondering.

01:05:15:13 - 01:05:49:14
Lauren
My original answer was Hades. That's true. Based on the plot and the music and the characters and the fighting style. And because it's not a type of game like Roguelike is not something I have ever played before. Right? And so it was just new to me and it took me a really long time to do it. The first time I beat Haiti's like Hades, the person in the game, the first time I got through the game was my 100th try.

01:05:50:06 - 01:06:15:23
Lauren
Like it took me so long because I never played anything like it and so I just kept working on it. But then once I beat him, then I like was able to keep beating him because I had finally figured out mastery of the game and how to be successful. And I was just really proud of myself. And again, the story is wonderful and the music is incredible able and the art is incredible.

01:06:15:23 - 01:06:23:13
Lauren
And I just loved it so, so much is just such a well-done game.

01:06:23:13 - 01:06:43:14
Gabe
I see. I feel like that could be your favorite. Okay. Okay. So I understand you're doing Crusader Kings, right? Accessories like most play game. That's why I chose Skyrim, because I have hundreds of hours in there, flip and game like I always come back to for whatever reason. And then I chose because it was a pivotal experience in my life.

01:06:43:14 - 01:06:46:28
Gabe
So like when I was thinking about, I was like, do I just choose like my most played game?

01:06:46:28 - 01:06:48:05
Gabe
Because I don't really know.

01:06:50:02 - 01:06:51:03
Gabe
What else.

01:06:51:11 - 01:06:51:27
Gabe
To do.

01:06:53:03 - 01:06:53:22
Gabe
So many games.

01:06:53:22 - 01:06:56:06
Lauren
Like Crusader Kings three I love Crusader Kings.

01:06:56:06 - 01:06:57:00
Gabe
Three. Right, right.

01:06:57:10 - 01:07:22:13
Lauren
Creating my characters. I love figuring out what type of person I'm going to be, what lineage I'm going to be, just like playing through, just it again itches that piece of my brain that's just like, Oh, go do this thing, go do this thing, go and explore. There's just a lot of things going on, but you don't have to do any of them, right?

01:07:22:13 - 01:07:47:21
Lauren
So you can really just kind of like pick and choose and feel like what's going on and it can as mindless or as involved as you want. And I have just had so much fun starting restarting, changing, pivoting. There are just so many things you can do in the game that every time I play it's a totally new experience and I love that.

01:07:47:21 - 01:08:01:09
Lauren
And so I have played for truly just so many hours. Like there was a good period of time where I was playing it every other night or something.

01:08:01:09 - 01:08:02:12
Gabe
Like I said, I was.

01:08:02:12 - 01:08:10:17
Lauren
Almost at my computer. I was playing Crusader Kings just because I love it so, so much.

01:08:11:12 - 01:08:20:21
Gabe
I love that for you. I really do. This is this is not my kind of game or.

01:08:22:27 - 01:08:23:07
Gabe
A.

01:08:24:02 - 01:08:25:26
Lauren
How are you looking, Crusader Kings three or what?

01:08:25:26 - 01:08:44:09
Gabe
Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's like the I saw that it's not my kind of game like I can play these for a of these are something I would much prefer to watch someone play because playing it it doesn't hold my interest as much. But like watching someone who's passionate about and like knowledgeable about it and that kind of stuff.

01:08:44:20 - 01:08:45:18
Gabe
I enjoy watching.

01:08:45:18 - 01:08:45:27
Gabe
That.

01:08:46:21 - 01:09:14:28
Lauren
Yeah, it a twitch partner who for a while there and she's a she's like an 8 to 5 streamer like yeah it's her day job like for her during her full quote unquote regular work day. And there was a while there where she was pretty much only playing Crusader Kings and she was choosing some specific pieces to go down.

01:09:14:28 - 01:09:25:00
Lauren
And she was just like, All right, well, we're going to turn all of this witchcraft and we're going to do so. She was kind of doing challenges for herself and I was like, I want to do that.

01:09:25:12 - 01:09:28:10
Gabe
Like the same challenges people do. I love.

01:09:29:04 - 01:09:29:17
Gabe
That.

01:09:31:07 - 01:09:36:23
Gabe
Yeah Are you ever going to do it? Will you ever stream something like that? Because I feel like that be interesting to watch.

01:09:36:24 - 01:09:47:16
Lauren
I'm streamed in a couple times and yeah, I don't know, I, I haven't streamed in like three weeks. I have.

01:09:48:09 - 01:09:51:15
Gabe
No way. Yeah. Oh.

01:09:53:03 - 01:10:18:23
Lauren
I'm just, I feel like or a lot. I mean I started streaming during COVID, right? So I feel like as my social life has started picking back up twitch has been less of a priority. Just because I'm getting I'm socializing elsewhere.

01:10:19:02 - 01:10:19:09
Gabe
Yeah.

01:10:19:15 - 01:10:34:25
Lauren
And so I'm feeling less of like a, a need to be social by being on Twitch. I don't know. It's just one of those like phases and I haven't really a vacation, a true vacation from Twitch in like two years.

01:10:35:17 - 01:10:37:18
Gabe
So it's totally.

01:10:37:18 - 01:10:41:00
Lauren
Fair because of life doing other stuff. I just.

01:10:42:27 - 01:10:43:08
Gabe
Haven't.

01:10:43:28 - 01:10:52:28
Lauren
Haven't streamed in a bit so I don't know but yeah I, I'm happy to stream crusader Kings three.

01:10:54:12 - 01:10:54:24
Gabe
Oh, my God.

01:10:54:24 - 01:10:56:12
Gabe
I saw something. The question is it get through.

01:10:56:13 - 01:11:00:04
Gabe
Okay, top five games.

01:11:00:04 - 01:11:33:29
Lauren
Top five games. Crusader Kings three Skyrim Stardew Valley Sins four. Surprise. No, that's a great again. It's one of those my Crusader Kings, Stardew Valley and Sims four all of those kind of like mindless games where I can have a Hallmark movie on next to me while I'm like focusing, you know, 60 to 70% of my energy on the game most of the time, Skyrim, as we've talked about, love it.

01:11:34:03 - 01:11:45:11
Lauren
I love it so much. And then my number five is Nancy Drew Curse of Black Mormon, which is my favorite. Nancy Drew. Yeah, and it just I love the puzzles in it.

01:11:45:26 - 01:11:48:07
Gabe
I talked about it. Now I know it's.

01:11:48:19 - 01:12:04:24
Gabe
I think I'm cool. I think it might be my too. And it's so hard to choose one, but I think it's I think it would be my favorite too, because it was like a really pivotal Nancy during my childhood. But I also still equally enjoy it as much as an adult.

01:12:06:09 - 01:12:06:18
Gabe
Yeah.

01:12:07:06 - 01:12:08:18
Gabe
So hard because I really do.

01:12:08:18 - 01:12:11:01
Gabe
Love like all of the Nancy Drew games for different.

01:12:11:01 - 01:12:13:04
Gabe
Reason. But I feel like you're because.

01:12:13:05 - 01:12:13:24
Gabe
Black women.

01:12:14:05 - 01:12:15:11
Gabe
I think all of your top five.

01:12:15:11 - 01:12:16:04
Gabe
Games okay.

01:12:16:06 - 01:12:17:12
Gabe
Besides Crusader Kings.

01:12:17:12 - 01:12:17:22
Gabe
Three.

01:12:18:05 - 01:12:39:03
Gabe
That sounds what they are they are slap. I've never played the other one so I can't I can't really speak against it or for it, but they're all slap. I put Skyrim two and then the one I put sense. Eric I was like, I loved it. Not just because it was like my dad's and my thing, but I actually genuinely really loved it.

01:12:39:14 - 01:12:49:11
Gabe
And then Kingdoms Amber Reckoning was like a middle school childhood game for me that I really loved. It's very Skyrim came out around the.

01:12:49:11 - 01:12:51:22
Gabe
Same time as Skyrim.

01:12:51:22 - 01:13:20:21
Gabe
I'm like, I love those kinds of games. I put Witcher three because I felt like I had a theme going with the types of games are strategy for my top five, so I was like, I'll just pick Witcher three because I did actually really love that. I think that was the best of The Witcher games. Like they were all good, but I think that was the best one, which kind of I mean, as I say, makes sense because the first one, I don't know, I'm not going to get into it anyways.

01:13:20:28 - 01:13:44:16
Gabe
And then I was like, I don't know where I would choose because I feel like I have to have a survival game here because like I love survival games and there is a long time where that was like, that's all I wanted to play because I just like surviving in general, like me and my dad, but like we liked, we love hardcore camping and like going off into.

01:13:45:14 - 01:13:46:18
Gabe
But nowhere.

01:13:46:24 - 01:13:59:08
Gabe
No civilization. And so I, I feel like, I feel like that's partially why I really love survival games because I can still have that experience even when I can't go do it.

01:13:59:09 - 01:14:01:03
Gabe
I don't know. I just am so.

01:14:02:02 - 01:14:15:22
Gabe
I should probably survival game but I really don't know if I could pick one because there's like a handful that I really, really love. Like I'd have to do a top five of survival games.

01:14:15:22 - 01:14:20:09
Lauren
I'm going to say the forest.

01:14:20:09 - 01:14:35:02
Gabe
Yeah, it would be the forest astronomer would be up there because those two were like survival games. I played from their very beginning, like the early access, the beta, the alpha, all of that. So like the whole process.

01:14:35:02 - 01:14:35:17
Gabe
Of those.

01:14:36:26 - 01:14:59:01
Gabe
And then and then seven days to die. The same with that. Like those three were my huge survival games when they were coming out in like develop in and all of that. So it was, it would be so hard to pick one of them because they're all different. You have zombie apocalypse.

01:14:59:01 - 01:14:59:19
Gabe
Space.

01:15:00:10 - 01:15:11:19
Gabe
Apocalypse, honestly, and then and then cannibal apocalypse. You crash landed on to a Canadian island and the cannibals want you.

01:15:12:11 - 01:15:12:27
Gabe
But the.

01:15:12:27 - 01:15:13:28
Lauren
Canadians.

01:15:14:01 - 01:15:19:03
Gabe
Not the Canadians. So it would be those three. But I don't know.

01:15:19:03 - 01:15:22:01
Gabe
It's like if I could pick one off, it'd be hard.

01:15:22:27 - 01:15:40:10
Gabe
Okay. Most underrated game for me. I had to bring it up again. I'm sorry. I've tried like five times since Sarah and. Okay, I feel like nobody played this game, and it's so tragic. No one I have ever talked to, ever heard of it, has ever known what it.

01:15:40:10 - 01:15:41:19
Lauren
Is really means. Nothing.

01:15:42:00 - 01:15:43:16
Gabe
That's okay. It.

01:15:44:09 - 01:16:05:14
Gabe
It's so tragic. It did not get more love because it totally could have had a sequel. And the sequel have been really good to I just know it. But it has one of the most beautiful soundtracks I've ever heard in the game. The graphics are like beautiful and really amazing for the time, but then I feel like they also kind of still.

01:16:05:25 - 01:16:11:09
Gabe
Person after the game was great. Yes, it went downhill after that.

01:16:11:18 - 01:16:29:06
Gabe
My dad says the first half of the game was really great and then it went downhill. After that I was telling them, I was talking about how we would play together and then like they're really big, intense battles. We would start out with making our battle plan. So we'd look at the fairies and we'd be like, Okay, this is our counter to that.

01:16:29:06 - 01:16:34:29
Gabe
This is our counter that this are kind of that. And my sole job would be depress the spacebar to switch what fairy we had.

01:16:35:13 - 01:16:41:12
Gabe
Oh oh crabbing I'd be flying it. What you fairies.

01:16:41:19 - 01:16:50:25
Gabe
Yeah. And like that was nice so job was to watch.

01:16:50:25 - 01:16:52:24
Gabe
Oh man. You did a great job.

01:16:53:12 - 01:17:16:24
Gabe
Thank you. I was the fairy master. I was like, okay, this is because this is this is also, as you talk about, is its combat system as one of the most unique ones I've ever seen. Like of all games I've ever played. Because you had so just like Pokémon, right? You had, you know, like fire, water, you know, Earth, all of that.

01:17:16:24 - 01:17:41:14
Gabe
Right? But then there's like this whole system where certain fairies, okay, Pokémon does is to I think could take on like other, um, what do you call it. So like a fire fairy could have water magic sometimes, but it was only certain spells and not like only certain fairies could do it. And it was very right, you know what I mean?

01:17:41:14 - 01:18:00:22
Gabe
And so then you also you had two sets of spells per fairy. You had your one set that was one off and spell and one defense. Then you had your second. That was one offense and one defense. And so within one fairy, right, you could have like your water fairy could have water, which was, you know, good against certain.

01:18:00:22 - 01:18:25:12
Gabe
But then its second set could have like, like light magic, right. And then that would cover multiple fairies. You had the two different complex. It was more complex to that. But okay so, so he you probably can't hear him because of how my mike is right now. So he brought up another point too of how like it was like even more complex than that was certain arenas also affected gameplay to like what arenas you were in.

01:18:25:21 - 01:18:49:07
Gabe
But then like if you were in the natural habitat of the fairy that attacked you, they were way stronger than in other environments. So the one he brought up was the dark fairies. There were such as if you played them in any environment other than the catacombs, if you brought them down to the catacombs and the dark caves, they were like.

01:18:49:22 - 01:18:52:07
Gabe
Destroyed, destroyed, destroyed.

01:18:52:07 - 01:19:12:07
Gabe
You're done. They were sloppy. But if you leveling them up in any other environment was like the most God awful thing you would ever decided to do in your lifetime. You're like, Why did I decide to do this? It's really great. I'd recommend watch the trailer. You can get it on steam and play it. I haven't tried it.

01:19:12:18 - 01:19:30:03
Gabe
I think on this computer. I think I have tried it, but you can play it. I would recommend it. Ten out of ten, especially if you love affairs. It is really beautiful and like like Elvish, that kind of stuff. Anyways, tell us about your sexy business.

01:19:31:11 - 01:19:33:25
Gabe
Max Gentleman sex.

01:19:33:25 - 01:19:35:25
Lauren
That's gentleman sexy business.

01:19:36:23 - 01:19:39:03
Gabe
Extreme that right and like February.

01:19:39:03 - 01:19:43:01
Lauren
And I did a lot of streaming of last gentleman sex it business okay.

01:19:43:01 - 01:19:43:10
Gabe
Okay.

01:19:43:18 - 01:19:44:08
Gabe
Go ahead tell.

01:19:46:16 - 01:20:18:07
Lauren
People and write it off because the art style kind of like makes you think of like, you know, dream daddy or any of those other kind of like, you know, very same game. Yes. Okay. Yeah, very like overtly sexual. So, yes, you you can turn it so that it's like not sexual at all. So you can kind of turn that piece off.

01:20:18:07 - 01:20:32:14
Lauren
You can make it not you can make it decently safe for work and you can make it super not safe for work to just like depending on how you feel, how spacey you want to be, how much you can show on stream.

01:20:33:01 - 01:20:35:27
Gabe
But I'm watching the trailer. I'm sorry. Yeah.

01:20:36:10 - 01:20:58:04
Lauren
So. So there's a lot of, like, character pieces where you just it's fun stories. Every character you meet, you can determine if you want to become a friend or like want to, you know, kind of build a relationship with them and you like gain hearts and build hearts and you. So that's kind of like on the side is like you go on dates with people and you like build a relationship.

01:20:59:00 - 01:21:26:18
Lauren
But the main like actual gameplay is resource management where as you build closer friendships or build relationships with your characters, they can become stronger and help you gain resources as you try to move through the greater story where there's several different levels of bosses that you are kind of working for, right?

01:21:26:18 - 01:21:27:22
Gabe
There's bosses.

01:21:27:23 - 01:21:28:17
Lauren
Bosses.

01:21:28:27 - 01:21:30:21
Gabe
Like fights.

01:21:30:21 - 01:21:31:28
Gabe
Yeah, well, this.

01:21:32:19 - 01:22:05:26
Lauren
Is fighting meeting. Okay, you're going through and you're like sending people off to like get people and get resources and whatever. And each stage of the journey is like an area on the map. And you so this is where the sexy business comes in because you are a master or a lady of industry. And you basically the story at the beginning is that you have a rival and they've taken all of your assets, you're rebuilding your empire.

01:22:06:08 - 01:22:32:06
Lauren
And so you're making friends along the way, building your relationship with them. And they are you are taking over pieces of industry as you work towards the final boss. So you're like gaining workers you're gaining strength, you're moving on towards the final boss, and then you finally beat him. And then he's just like, oh, my gosh. Well, actually, I was doing it on behalf of this guy.

01:22:32:15 - 01:23:03:01
Lauren
And so then you go through and so you just are migrating through a bunch of different layers of of like mini bosses and having all of your people taking them out. And again, as you have multiple people like in one specific area, then they start relationships. And so it's just all about creating these relationships. And as you level up their relationships, you level up outfits, you level up date to level of conversations you level up information and details about them.

01:23:03:16 - 01:23:29:22
Lauren
And then even once you finish the game, you still maintain those relationships. You can go back and go through and do your resource management battles and whatever and still maintain the relationships or you can start from scratch again. But I love the I love the resource management so much. Like, I find it just a genuinely, really, really fun game to play.

01:23:29:22 - 01:23:54:00
Lauren
And yeah, the dates are fun and they're spicy and ridiculous and the further you build the relationship, the more spicy they're going to get unless you've marked them as just friends. And there are a whole bunch of really wild characters. It's created by the same people who do like Monster Prom and oh yeah, it's like outfits that like are used in Monster Prom.

01:23:54:10 - 01:24:35:24
Lauren
Like, you can dress up your max gentleman in whatever, whatever. It's just it's just really fun. It's lighthearted, it's silly, it's ridiculous. It's kind of like kind of goofy Victorian language, and it's just a really good time. I've really enjoyed it. It's, it's really fun to stream because I blush really easily. And so I will have to be like reading out some gently risque things live on stream and it just, like, makes me flash and just, like, stresses me out and people really enjoy it.

01:24:35:24 - 01:24:38:19
Gabe
So I just started it. It's a wish lists.

01:24:39:14 - 01:24:53:01
Lauren
It's yeah, I have really, really, really enjoyed it and I think a lot of people just write it off just because it is the sexy business and it, you know, is focused on that area of it.

01:24:53:01 - 01:24:58:01
Gabe
But I feel like they have honey pop PTSD and so they see those kinds of games and they're.

01:24:58:01 - 01:24:58:26
Gabe
Like, I'm going to be like.

01:24:59:04 - 01:25:02:09
Gabe
Not that there's anything wrong with honeypot, but it's like.

01:25:02:17 - 01:25:07:07
Gabe
Yeah, very sexual.

01:25:07:07 - 01:25:44:02
Gabe
Okay, overhyped game. I this sounds terrible because I've never played this game, but genshin impact for me is a overhyped game. Every time I watch people play it, I, I just don't get it. I really don't get it. I'm like, all right. I mean, like, you go ahead and enjoy what you want to enjoy. I'm not going to make fun of you or anything or judge, but I just I, I don't feel like it's.

01:25:44:07 - 01:25:47:25
Gabe
It's all that much.

01:25:47:25 - 01:25:50:05
Gabe
Don't tell your husband, because I think. I think you've told.

01:25:50:05 - 01:25:52:09
Gabe
Me he plays it. Oh, no, no.

01:25:53:08 - 01:25:56:12
Gabe
No. It's a different game that he plays. Never mind. There's something I'll.

01:25:56:12 - 01:25:57:09
Gabe
Say about.

01:26:00:04 - 01:26:09:07
Lauren
I feel similarly to Valheim, which I know I have a lot of friends and family who really do enjoy it. I.

01:26:09:15 - 01:26:11:14
Gabe
I played valheim and I feel you.

01:26:12:12 - 01:26:12:29
Gabe
Yeah.

01:26:13:15 - 01:26:18:29
Lauren
I just feel like every time I play it, I'm like, are there other games that do this better?

01:26:19:15 - 01:26:19:24
Gabe
Yeah.

01:26:20:09 - 01:26:41:21
Lauren
Yeah. So I, I acknowledge that Valheim allows for multiple people. So like, people like it because of the community which maybe they can't get in other similar games where they're, it's more of like a, you know, individuals doing things. So there's understand the appeal.

01:26:43:13 - 01:26:44:24
Gabe
There's something about that player.

01:26:44:24 - 01:26:49:00
Gabe
Survival games I know I, I feel it like I.

01:26:49:15 - 01:26:58:18
Gabe
Think the lore and stuff and kind of like the mythology they pull is really interesting.

01:26:58:21 - 01:26:59:10
Gabe
You know, because.

01:26:59:10 - 01:27:03:25
Gabe
It's Nordic. But I just, like you said, I think there's.

01:27:04:01 - 01:27:12:03
Gabe
Two survival games that did a better like did different aspects better and stuff and yeah, no, I agree.

01:27:13:07 - 01:27:20:09
Gabe
I feel like that's an overhyped game too. I feel like a lot of the people I know who would like talk about like in survival games, they're top ones. I was like, Valheim.

01:27:20:09 - 01:27:29:25
Gabe
And I'm like, But there's so many other great ones. Like, why anyways?

01:27:29:25 - 01:27:54:02
Gabe
Game recommendations, I feels, I don't know. I feel like it's hard to recommend a specific game to someone because everyone has their own tastes. So I would just say give every genre a try because you might think you wouldn't like it and then you actually find out you do like it, or maybe just like some games within the genre.

01:27:54:02 - 01:27:56:02
Gabe
So, you know, don't, don't.

01:27:56:02 - 01:27:57:11
Gabe
Be afraid to go out of your.

01:27:57:11 - 01:28:00:02
Gabe
Comfort zone.

01:28:00:02 - 01:28:03:08
Lauren
I think there are also a lot of games which are kind of hybrids.

01:28:03:22 - 01:28:04:25
Gabe
Yes, yes.

01:28:05:04 - 01:28:19:08
Lauren
Sure. If you know, you really like puzzle games, then there are some puzzle games which are maybe a little bit spookier, where there are puzzle games which are maybe a little more like f-pace, I guess.

01:28:19:15 - 01:28:20:21
Gabe
Like no, I mean.

01:28:21:18 - 01:28:39:11
Lauren
Yeah, you can find a lot of if you know what you do like you can find games that incorporate pieces of that that, you know, have different themes or different styles or add in something a little bit different to test. Yes.

01:28:40:16 - 01:28:41:13
Gabe
Yeah. No.

01:28:41:16 - 01:28:42:29
Gabe
Better to Petrossian.

01:28:43:29 - 01:28:47:20
Gabe
Mm hmm. Mm hmm. Yes. Why do we like gaming?

01:28:47:20 - 01:29:18:08
Gabe
I feel like we kind of talked about this, and you might have more to add to your answer. But, you know, we talked about how experiencing it was someone else. And like, that's kind of a prize to twitch, but a yes for me to expand on the experiences that gaming offers so many different experiences. So not only can you experience it with other people, but you can be something or someone you'd never be able to be otherwise or something you've always wanted to be.

01:29:18:09 - 01:29:44:07
Gabe
You can experience the simulation of something you've always wanted to do. I mean, there's like farm simulators, the house simulators power wise, like so many different simulators. And I mean like there's games that you can learn stuff in like different mythologies or you know, like we always talk about the Nancy Drew is like there's like the whole game, the Shadow Ranch, right?

01:29:44:07 - 01:29:48:12
Gabe
You learn all about horses or like history or you know, all of that stuff.

01:29:49:11 - 01:29:49:24
Gabe
Um.

01:29:50:07 - 01:29:56:11
Gabe
And, you know, it can be a solo experience. It can be some of the experiences, other people. It's just, it has so.

01:29:56:11 - 01:30:02:01
Gabe
Much to offer and gaming.

01:30:02:01 - 01:30:17:06
Gabe
Can just always suck you in. It just sucks you in. And then you don't have to think about any of the stuff that's been weighing on you or just any of the crap going on in your life. You have a brief reprieve.

01:30:18:18 - 01:30:26:07
Gabe
So that's why I enjoy gaming. Yeah.

01:30:26:07 - 01:31:00:04
Lauren
Agree that it is. It can be an escape. It can be a way to build a community or socialize, learn. For most games, you are the main character, which I think is just true. It's fun. It's a way to other media. Doesn't really allow you to participate in it as much. You know, you read a book, you watch TV, you watch a show.

01:31:00:04 - 01:31:42:10
Lauren
Like most media just kind of gets consumed. You're just a passenger along for the ride. But it's really, really enjoyable to make this story happen in a lot of ways, and I think it really inspires people to. Be creative, and whether you're building a house in The Sims or whether you're shooting zombies with friends like it, it makes you think about things differently and kind of allows you to find that creativity and maybe even inspires you to want to start making a game because you're like, How does this work?

01:31:42:10 - 01:32:04:05
Lauren
How would you code this? How would you allow this to happen? How can I? You know, for Sims, there's a ton of hacks that people have figured out or learned or know. And so just having the creativity to say, Hmm, I really want to do this, the game's not letting. Like, how can I figure out how to go and do this?

01:32:04:05 - 01:32:39:25
Lauren
You get to do a lot more like processing where you get to say, Let me try this 12 different ways with no like real world problems. Yeah. So you just get to test out a lot of theories and ideas and experiment more than you typically get to in the real world. You know, in the real world, you get to do things once a lot of the times, you kind of have one shot to do it correctly.

01:32:39:25 - 01:32:46:20
Lauren
Otherwise you have to go get more ingredients for the recipe or you have to, you know.

01:32:46:20 - 01:32:47:03
Gabe
So you.

01:32:47:03 - 01:32:50:00
Gabe
Don't have infinite ingredients in real life. What?

01:32:50:23 - 01:32:51:09
Gabe
What?

01:32:51:17 - 01:32:55:16
Gabe
That's a shame, you know.

01:32:55:16 - 01:33:02:06
Lauren
So I guess second tries is something that I think is really important.

01:33:02:06 - 01:33:09:05
Gabe
It's okay to make mistakes in games, but in real life you better not.

01:33:09:05 - 01:33:10:11
Lauren
It's just more complicated.

01:33:11:03 - 01:33:12:10
Gabe
No, sir.

01:33:12:22 - 01:33:26:14
Gabe
Was me mean? It was just a prank, bro. Look, there's the camera. What advice would you give to fellow gamer girls gamers in general? I okay. I don't want to be exclusionary and say, like, it's only for gamer.

01:33:26:14 - 01:33:27:23
Gabe
Girls, but, you know.

01:33:28:27 - 01:33:56:26
Gabe
And I feel like I feel this really strongly because I do play these games and stuff where it's maybe more male dominated, there's a toxic, but, you know, just because you're behind the keyboard and screen or, you know, a controller and screen, it doesn't mean you're God or just like the basic rules of common decency don't apply to you like they still apply.

01:33:56:26 - 01:34:20:29
Gabe
And there's no need for all of the tech toxicity. I just because, you know, like that I feel like this is something people kind of think about in real life, is that, you know, when you talk to someone or you're seeing someone, you don't know what that person is going through. And something you say could make their bad day so much worse.

01:34:21:18 - 01:34:22:04
Gabe
But it can.

01:34:22:04 - 01:34:23:08
Gabe
Also, you know.

01:34:23:09 - 01:34:31:05
Gabe
Turn a bad for them into a good day because they just needed that small nicety.

01:34:31:05 - 01:34:35:27
Gabe
You know? And it just I don't know.

01:34:36:02 - 01:34:37:12
Gabe
Sometimes the toxic.

01:34:37:12 - 01:34:40:25
Gabe
Gaming cluster just makes me so sad.

01:34:40:25 - 01:34:51:07
Gabe
And like it is, it's just a game. It is just a game, you know? Take a step back, take a deep breath. It's All Okay. It is just a game.

01:34:52:18 - 01:34:56:04
Lauren
You know?

01:34:56:04 - 01:34:58:24
Gabe
I don't know. I don't really know if that's good advice. That's more of like.

01:34:59:02 - 01:35:09:19
Gabe
Shame on all of you. Can you be better? Please? Because, well, it's a good episode.

01:35:09:23 - 01:35:11:10
Lauren
We love you all so much.

01:35:11:20 - 01:35:26:21
Gabe
You're just kidding. Hey, maybe you have better advice. I think that's actually advice.

01:35:28:05 - 01:35:52:23
Lauren
I don't know if I have actual advice or other than there are lots of reasons to get into video games. As we've talked about, if you play games on your phone or on your computer or on a console, you can consider yourself a gamer on your.

01:35:52:23 - 01:35:53:26
Gabe
Nintendo 60.

01:35:53:26 - 01:35:54:10
Gabe
Four.

01:35:55:01 - 01:35:56:19
Lauren
On the Nintendo 64.

01:35:56:19 - 01:35:59:29
Gabe
MM huh.

01:36:02:04 - 01:36:41:20
Lauren
So if that don't let other people influence you when it comes to determining what kind of games you like, whether you consider yourself a gamer, whether you are trying to get involved in the gaming community, no matter what you do, somebody is always going to express disapproval. Yeah, whether it's people you run into while you're playing games, whether it's people in your real life who are like, Why are you playing a video game?

01:36:41:20 - 01:36:58:27
Lauren
Somebody is always going to have an opinion. So I think my advice is just to say I'm doing it because want to and it's quite frankly not your business and do what you want to do.

01:36:58:27 - 01:37:00:17
Gabe
Tell them, tell them your.

01:37:00:17 - 01:37:04:02
Gabe
Life.

01:37:04:02 - 01:37:12:18
Gabe
I'm sorry. You're listing off the different things you can play on and on replay when I play Valorant.

01:37:13:05 - 01:37:13:12
Gabe
When.

01:37:13:12 - 01:37:35:21
Gabe
You're like loading into the match because like you're playing with a bunch of different people, sometimes it takes a really long time, and that's because one person is taking really long to load. And so I'm always like, Who brought their Nintendo 64? So you're saying those I'm sorry to have popped into my head and I had to say it.

01:37:36:00 - 01:37:43:12
Gabe
All right. Bring it, bring us. Bring us. I don't know. Tell us about the female developers.

01:37:43:12 - 01:38:15:20
Lauren
So today we're talking about Christina Curlee whose gamer name is Phazero, we think, and she is a black woman in America and she is an award winning anti disciplinary video game designer, artist and ambassador. Explain the frontiers of gaming and art's personal experience gains and the study of level and environment design. I find her really, really interesting.

01:38:15:20 - 01:38:49:17
Lauren
She got her Masters in 2019 on meaningful level design. So like that's her whole business is just like figuring out what to do and how to be really, really creative with levels, which I think is just so interesting and it's so exciting. I've got a quote from her Above all, my goal as a game developer. Game designer is to create games that resonate with players on a deep level and leave a lasting impact on their lives.

I'm dedicated pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the industry, and I look forward to continuing to create unforgettable gaming experiences for players around the world. She's currently working at Insomniac and they have described her as a creative force that can spin up ideas and execute them quickly while working well and thriving with a team. She got her masters at UCLA and is currently an assistant professor there, so just staying.

01:39:24:03 - 01:40:17:29
Lauren
So she's currently working again as a designer, but is also staying the sphere of academia, which I think is really exciting. She's worked on games such as artifacts, Effigy, Breathe Final flight and then she created game design, the game question mark, which is kind of meta. It's a game about designing games. It uses unique mechanics to describe the design process in a humorous yet informative way, describing the highs and pitfalls of freelance and indie game making, she has a blog on her site, Christinazero.com where she talks a lot about her journey, like what she's currently working on, very honest and casual with how she talks about it.

01:40:17:29 - 01:40:48:24
Lauren
So if you're at all interested in game design? I would really go check that out. It's full of all sorts of interesting tidbits and pieces and insights into what she's doing and her life as a game designer. Her thesis examines how 3D level designers for modern computer games can promote meaningful gameplay that focuses on intrinsic, emotion driven player experiences experiential design.

01:40:49:07 - 01:41:20:27
Lauren
It runs in direct opposition to proponents of game essentialism, a formalist approach to game criticism that believes games should be isolated from essential player experiences, art and cultural history, and studied as abstract role systems above all else. Where game essentialist and I agree is that computer games merit study require a stable lexicon to discuss their qualities and are not a satellite genre of film or narrative, though they may overlap in practice.

01:41:22:06 - 01:41:58:15
Lauren
So she really is focusing on the fact that games should not be capped or considered separate from like the art world and modern events, and should shouldn't be just taken and reviewed in a vacuum. And so again, it's like working with that emotion and designing levels and storylines that are really going to make you think and make you consider what's going on and maybe tie back into real world issues.

01:41:59:15 - 01:42:20:16
Gabe
I feel like that's been a I guess I forgot the word colleague common theme between a lot of these developers is that, hmm, video game creation is art. It's like art and it shouldn't be considered so separate from that.

01:42:20:16 - 01:42:43:24
Lauren
Yeah. She recently worked on Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart, which was a pretty popular game that came in 2021, is currently working on a few more insomniac games that have not yet been released. Specifically Wolverine and Spider-Man two.

01:42:43:24 - 01:42:45:03
Gabe
That's awesome. I.

01:42:46:25 - 01:43:21:28
Gabe
I really appreciate that because I feel like especially more recent years where companies are just trying to crank out games left and right and like maximize their bag. They, they lose meaning in their games and in certain parts of their game because they're just doing it so fast. And I feel like that's part of what makes gaming so special is when it has that well-thought out meaning and it like affects you and stays with you.

01:43:21:28 - 01:43:33:26
Gabe
And you know, two days after you play it, you're still thinking about it and pondering it and you know what I mean? So I think I think that's really awesome I feel like that's something people need to.

01:43:35:21 - 01:43:38:12
Gabe
Take, you know, think about more and incorporate more.

01:43:39:16 - 01:44:05:28
Lauren
Yeah so again at Christinazero.com she has she's got a good website going where she includes her thesis her level design thesis so you can go on to her site and read through her whole master's thesis that's talking about level design. And it's really, really interesting.
